Context:
How interesting are some of the phrases that we have in the English language. I have amended the commonly used phrase to ‘Devils (plural) in the Detail’ as a reflection on the extent to which the devils, the minor acolytes to the Grand Master of the underworld, penetrate the minutiae of society and our lives and cause us endless problems, many of which we don’t notice until it’s too late.
['The devil is in the details' only came into common use in the 1990s and the earliest citation of it in print is thought to be in Richard Mayne's explanation of the workings of the European Union - The Community of Europe, 1963]
["Hell is empty and all the devils are here." This is a line from William Shakespeare's play: The Tempest: Act 1, Scene 2. Ferdinand’s observation that "hell is empty and all the devils are here" means that he recognizes the true evil nature of his father.]
